Carl Bruner (Tony Goldwyn) was a bad, bad man. According to the Vedic scriptures from India, when a bad man dies, he is dragged away to a hellish planet by the Yamadutas, the servants of Yamaraja, the Superintendent of Death! Here, in the Manhattan Borough of New York City, Carl meets such a fate. Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze), in his subtle material (ghostly) body, witnesses the event and is not surprised. He's seen it before. Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) and Molly Jensen (Demi Moore) are also in the clip.

This movie won 2 Academy Awards (Oscars). One went to  Whoopi Goldberg for "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" and the other went to Bruce Joel Rubin for "Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen." As you can see from his website:
